Lets just all relax!
04/05/2012
This spring/summer beauty trends is all about the natural look. Say goodbye to hours of straightening hair and applying thousands of different eye shadows, the time has come to bring the wild and unstrained side of you to life.

It is a challenge to make hair appear how you want and then keep it like that for the rest of the day, especially when most don’t possess the skills of a hairdresser. However, your hair prayers have been answered. The urban wave is not only a time saver, but also a laid back style that gives you an irresistible beach look. Together with the barley-there make up with a beige or peach-coloured lips you will outshine even the sun this summer with natural beauty. This just-rolled-straight-out-of-bed style has been spotted on Rachel Bilson, Karen Gillan and Ashley Benson, actresses who have all picked up this trend. The effortless style itself is easy to achieve, as it only requires a rough blow dry and a curling iron to create a discreet curve, and a quick rake through with your hands to finish it off. If your hair feels like it doesn’t want to stay in shape after styling it you could use Paul Mitchell’s Super Clean Light Finishing Spray, which can be purchased at Pride Hair and Beauty.

Glistening Hair
20/04/2012
In a season defined by minimalism and natural beauty, hairstylists channeled easy elegance for spring. The sporting life was a popular theme with styles that looked fresh from the ocean or outdoors.

Nothing should be too perfect or impeccable, deconstructed waves and undone knots and twists proved that having a bit of an edge is as chic as ever.
It might be the most low-maintenance look of the season. Wet, barely-wrung hair has a youthful innocence that’s also glamorous when paired with bold eyes or lips. Hairstylist Guido championed the trend at numerous shows this season, saturating strands with argan oil like Moroccan Oil to arrive at a glossy finish all over or just at the roots.
Pop in the salon to pick up some Moroccan Oil to make sure you can achieve one of the looks this season.
Ocean Eyes
02/04/2012
Oceanic textures could be seen on many of the Spring Summer ’12 catwalks. From emulating the light reflecting surface, to exploring the dark depths of the water.

The ocean effect looked most beautiful when adapted on the eyes. At Rodarte, deep blue eye shadow was washed over a thick black base, whereas at Chanel the theme was conveyed through feminine, pearlescent eyelids.
To achieve Rodarte’s glamorous simulation of the bottom of the ocean, first cover the lid with New CID’s i-gel in carbon, then sweep over with i-smoulder shadow in sapphire, particularly focussing on the inner corners of the eyes.
If you prefer the softer look of Chanel, go for a mixture of the light, oyster colours from New CID’s i-shadow quads, Aspen, Provence and Laguna. Blend the shadow right up to the brow line for maximum effect. You will need to outline the eyes with New CID’s i-flutter mascara to give your eyes some definition.
Au Naturel

Pale lips are not to be confused with nude lips. The must-have beauty trend for S/S12 includes soft beiges, pinks and peach lip colours with matt and gloss finishes.

Pale lips were worn by the models at the biggest Spring Summer 2012 shows, and celebrities have been out in full force sporting a glossy or matt pale lip.
Chloe (bottom right) opted for a natural coloured matt lipstick, while Nina Ricci (top right) used a highlighter to emphasis the bridge of the top lip to give the illusion of plumper looking lips. At Jill Sander (bottom left) a hint of shimmer complimented the light coloured lipstick. If your own nude shade doesn't have a shimmer to it, use a lip balm over the top rather than a gloss for a subtle finish. Using a balm is also key to creating a good base for the lipstick to be applied to, creating both a soft and smooth base for the nude colour.
Using a lip liner on your lips is essential no matter how natural or bold your choice of lipstick is, it acts as a barrier making sure that your chosen lipstick or gloss is held firmly in place. Prada (top left) gave lips a coating of pale pink and a top layer of concealer for an ultra nude finish.
Gone are the days of the Beach Wave, for Spring/Summer it's all about the Urban Wave, a loose curve in the hair that's effortless and looks like you've just rolled straight out of bed.

For a daytime look all it requires is a rough blow dry, create a subtle curve with a curling iron, then a quick rake through with your hands for the ultimate understated look, and your done! Rosie Huntington-Whitely is rarely seen without her long flowing locks effortlessly curled, and it is a trend becoming increasingly popular with celebrities on the red carpet too.
If your hair has a tendency to not stay in shape once styled, we'd recommend using a light holding spray like Paul Mitchell's Super Clean Light Finishing Spray, giving your hair a bit of body and holding the shape of the curls. Unlike the long flowing locks in our previous post this hair trend needs a lot less work going into it, and is an overall more relaxed look. It can easily be achieved at home, however, if you would like some handy hints and tips pop into Pride and we'll be happy to help!
The latest hair and beauty trends from Paris Fashion Week
07/03/2012
It's the last day of Paris Fashion Week, and the catwalks have been awash with long flowing locks. from slightly tousled at Chole, to a Kate Moss festival inspired look at DSquared2.

To achieve this look apply a leave-in conditioner, and then blow dry the hair, roughing it up with your fingers to add some texture. Then using a curling tong, wrap two inch sections around the barrel for a slight curl, using a smoothing balm to give the curled sections some definition. Angelina Jolie and Kate Middleton in particular, are both well know for their long flowing locks, the perfect hairstyle for a relaxed daytime look, or in the evening, just add some volume at the roots with a volumising mousse, adding extra definition in the curls by holding the curls longer around the barrel of the tongs.
For 2012 a lot of the collections at LFW were inspired by the Olympics, to be held later on this year. With slicked back hair style, relaxed tailoring and barely there makeup.

Polished and perfected skin is ket to this look, so a flawless foundation base is essential, complimented with neutral eye shadows and lightly bronzed blushers, providing a healthy glow. For the ultimate in skin illumination why not try St Tropez Illuminator in Rose (available at Pride) applied lightly on the cheekbones, arms and shoulders for an extra radiance boost. The look also proved popular on the Oscars red carpet, with Shailene Woodley, Natalie Portman, Kristen Wiig and Gwyneth Paltrow all opting for an understated, natural makeup look.
